The L2M Rail has pioneered a Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) based on Fiber Bragg Grating sensing technology, which will monitor civil engineering structures including those of railway structures like bridges, tunnels, trestles, viaducts, culverts and similar construction. We use FBG-sensor technology to ensure the stability and integrity of structures even in vulnerable areas. Ensuring rail safety in settlement prone locations, flood prone areas, earth slip locations, weak soil and heavy rainfall areas etc., necessitates a shift from conventional manual inspection. Constant, technology-driven monitoring of both running trains and rail structures offers an ideal solution. By partnering with L2Mrail, the Kerala Rail Development Corporation aims to ensure the safety of trains on the 530 km, double-track stretch between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod, popularly known as Silverline project.
On September 30th, 2021 L2M Rail signed a tripartite agreement with Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited (K-Rail) and Indian Institute of Science to Innovate a FSHM System (Fibre Bragg Grating Sensing Technology based Structural Health Monitoring System) specifically for K-Rail to monitor Structures of Semi High Speed Silver Line Project of Kerala. The MOUs are exchanged between Mr. V. Ajith Kumar, MD -Kerala Rail and Capt. Sudhir Warrier, Register of IISc in the presence of Prof. Govindan Rangrajan, Director -IISc, Prof. B Gurumoorthy, Chief Executive -SID and Mr. Rao & Prof. Sinha, Founders of L2M Rail.
Signing of this prestigious MOU is yet another feather in the cap of L2M Rail, which is innovating in India for India and the World.
